Gigletto FAQs
Everything here is built for dogs under 20 lbs, and most of it for dogs under 10. If your question is about sizing, start with the Toy Size Guide — it covers what fits, what doesn't, and how to measure. Anything else, the answers below should cover it. Still stuck? Email us at hi@gigletto.com and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.
Sizing & Toys
How do I know what size toy my dog needs?
Check our Toy Size Guide — it breaks down recommendations by weight (under 5 lbs / 5–10 lbs / 10–20 lbs) and includes a breed reference table and bite scale. When in doubt, size up for safety.
My dog is between two sizes. Which should I pick?
Always go with the larger size. A toy that's slightly too big is safer than one that's too small — small toys can be a choking hazard.
What does the Bite Scale mean?
It's our rating for how much chewing force a toy is built to take:
- 1 — Soft. Puppies, seniors, and dogs with dental issues.
- 2 — Everyday. Most healthy adult small dogs.
- 3 — Tough. Determined chewers who destroy everything.
The scale describes durability, not hardness against teeth. Every level is safe for a small dog's jaw — we don't sell nylon bones, hard plastic, or anything that won't dent under a thumbnail.
Do you sell toys for large dogs?
No. Everything here is sized for dogs under about 20 lbs, with most built for under 10. Large-breed toys scaled down don't work — a small dog's jaw opens to roughly 1.5 inches, and the toys need to be designed around that from the start.
Are your toys safe for small dogs?
Every toy is sized for a small jaw and rated on the Bite Scale. We don't stock nylon bones, hard plastic, or real bone — those are the materials most often linked to cracked teeth in small breeds, because toy breeds have the same number of teeth as large breeds packed into a much smaller jaw.
What materials do you use?
Latex, natural rubber, TPR, eTPU, plush fabric, and cotton rope. Every product page lists the material.
TPR is softer and grippier — better for chewing. eTPU is lighter and bounces unpredictably — better for chasing.
Can I leave my dog alone with a toy?
We recommend supervised play for everything we sell. If you need something for time alone, a Bite Scale 3 chew or an unstuffed plush is the safer choice — but check the toy for damage before each session, and retire it as soon as pieces start coming off.
My dog destroyed a toy in one afternoon. Is that normal?
For determined chewers, yes. No toy is indestructible, and any toy will eventually fail. What matters is retiring it at the right moment: as soon as stuffing is exposed, a squeaker comes loose, or pieces start breaking off.
If a toy broke on the very first use, that's a defect — email us with a photo and we'll replace it.
Can I wash dog toys?
Most plush toys are machine washable on cold — check the product page to confirm. Air dry only; heat damages seams and squeakers. Rubber and latex toys can be hand-washed with warm water and mild soap.
Plush toys are worth washing about once a month, rubber and rope every couple of weeks. Toys collect more bacteria than most owners expect.
Can I put a toy in the freezer?
Fabric and hollow rubber toys, yes — about 20 minutes. Cold helps with sore gums during teething. Don't freeze solid rubber; it becomes too hard for a puppy's mouth.
Interactive & Puzzle Toys
What are snuffle toys and how do they work?
Snuffle toys have hidden pockets, flaps, or compartments where you can hide treats or kibble. Your dog uses their nose to sniff them out — it's mentally stimulating and helps slow down fast eaters. Great for rainy days or high-energy dogs that need to burn mental energy.
How do I use a slow feeder puzzle toy?
Place your dog's kibble or small treats into the compartments and let your dog figure out how to retrieve them. Start with easier puzzles and work up to more complex ones as your dog gets the hang of it.
Are puzzle toys good for anxious dogs?
Yes — mental stimulation through puzzle toys can help reduce anxiety and boredom-related behaviors like excessive barking or destructive chewing. They're especially helpful when you're away from home.
Dog Apparel
How do I measure my dog for clothing?
The most important measurement is your dog's chest girth — measure around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. Each product listing includes a size chart. Always measure before ordering, as sizing varies by style.
Why do small dogs need clothes — isn't it just for looks?
Small dogs like Chihuahuas have difficulty regulating body temperature in cold weather, so clothing provides real warmth and comfort. Some styles also help with anxiety. The adorable factor is just a bonus.
Are your hoodies easy to put on and take off?
Yes — our hoodies use pullover designs with stretchy fleece fabric, making them easy to slip on without stressing your dog. The high-cut belly design also means no interference with bathroom breaks.
Do your clothes fit French Bulldogs?
Yes! Our apparel is designed for small breeds including French Bulldogs, Chihuahuas, Yorkies, and Toy Poodles. We recommend measuring chest girth and comparing to the size chart on each product page, as French Bulldogs tend to have broader chests.
Do your vests work as a harness?
The Gentleman's Corduroy Quilted Dog Vest features a built-in adjustable harness with dual D-rings for leash attachment. Other apparel items are standalone garments and are not designed for leash use.
